Testing on animals is unbelievably cruel. It seems inconsequentail for some people to say "Oh, it's just a rat." If it were their pet dog, they would be in tears watching it get experimented on. Yes, a rat is much smaller, but in no means does that mean that it is even close to being less significant. It still has a life, and it still can feel pain. Yes, the 'advancement in scientific discovery' is a great thing, but there is no reason that in order to do this, scientist need to experiment on helpless creatures. This is just wrong.
In an article (Click here to see the article) they mentioned people trying to convince scientist to test on non-animal models. This still allows humans to test to find new cures and vaccines, which is fantastic, but it also saves an animal from the pain and suffering and in some cases, its life. This is the ideal way of testing, and yes it might be a challenge to figure out a way to test on non-animal models instead of animal models, but it is worth it all to save an animal. Once again, testing on animals needs to stop to spare helpless animals' lives.
